Personally, I think that braun coffee maker thermal feature or the machine with the thermal carafe is definitely a better buy. To me, great tasting coffee that can last for a couple of hours are very important and it outweights the higher cost that I would have to pay for the machine.

But, that is my personal choice, and I know that a brewer with thermal feature is required for my lifestyle. I usually brew and drink coffee alone and even if I do have company, it would be one or two more people.

So, in my case, having a thermal carafe to ensure that the coffee brewed can be kept fresh for a few hours is very important. In my situation, there is no way I can finish the entire brew in a few minutes.

Some of you might argue that warmer plates that comes with all Braun coffee brewer would be able to do the job of keeping coffee fresh. I beg to differ. If you are using the warmer plates to keep your coffee warm for anything less than 45 minutes, it would work perfectly well.

However, anything more than that, and I can assure you that the coffee would taste bitter because the convection of heat inside the coffee would have burn the coffee oil. So, I would never go for warmer plate.

Of course, the coffee brewer that comes with a thermal carafe is priced higher than the usual ones, so you have to evaluate if it is worth paying more for the thermal feature.

If you are brewing coffee for a family or a group of 6-8 person and everyone would gather for the coffee at the same time, then in my opinion, there is no need to get a thermal carafe as the group would wipe out the entire brew in one seating.

But, if your coffee consumption pattern is similar to mine, brewing for less than 3 people, then you should consider the brewer that has a thermal feature.

And I guess, that is the reason why coffee maker manufacturers always have a whole series of coffee machines to suit everyone needs. Take the braun aromaselect for example, they have the most basic drip filter

As I have said in my other articles, the coffee machine that is able to add value to your life is a good brewer. For example, there is simply no value adds for a large family that is able to consume one entire pot of coffee to get a machine with thermal carafe, don't you agree?

So, Braun coffee machine that comes with the thermal carafe is good for a particular group of consumers, but it might not necessary add value to all consumers. It all depends on your way of consuming the coffee and that determines which brewer is better for you.
