An-acid-reflux-diet-and-5-questions-you-should-ask
By Gilbey Scott
An reflux diet starts out as an attempt to reduce the causes of reflux induced pain. For many a diet helps but is not enough to keep from wondering if it will ever be possible to live a normal life. Perhaps your reflux problem needs a broader view.

Pick a day in the life of YOU. It’s probably packed with work, obligations and things that have to be done. Add to that a long list of things you would like to do. Without realizing it this may have become part of the reflux problem. You see, the brain and the body are tightly connected and anything that affects one is likely to affect the other.

To figure out how this might be touching your life, take some time to examine how you are going through your daily life. Look for habits that could be more problem than pleasure; the brain is always in the process of generating biorhythms and chemicals that affects how everything gets done; from attitude to digestion. Take the time to ask yourself these questions.

1) Do you feel stressed often during the day? Do you hate your job?

2) Would you say that your disposition is sunny and cheerful?

3) How important is it to you to have a relaxed, well-balanced meal?

4) Do you get enough sleep?

5) Do you allow time for “reflective” activities: art, museum or nature walk?

These are all points for sizing up your life patterns and as such are clues for an reflux remedy. They are important, not only for improving on your reflux or heartburn situation but also for having a positive influence on general health. When you have good living habits it’s easier to include relaxation and confidence as a part of good performance.

To make this happen try looking for things that can

have a positive affect, these can come from anywhere. For example: beverages with caffeine, sugar and alcohol cause individuals to have irregular mood and energy levels, making it harder to do certain mental and physical tasks. Explore the alternative and see if you aren’t more rested and relaxed at the end of the day. Reducing or eliminating these beverages should be a part of your reflux diet.

There are many more anti-reflux clues to be discovered. For example studies have shown that becoming absorbed in art uses a different part of the brain and promotes the release of certain pleasure chemicals. Doing yoga or deep breathing are other good ways to use the brain and body to make good things happen.

One thing I like to recommend is a “change day,” as way to evaluate the old and introduce something new. Try it! Turn off your electronic devices for an hour or a day and go to a museum or a nature walk. Judge for yourself what was good and bad about the experience. Try to make self exploration a part of your life pattern and see if you can tell the difference in your overall health and reflux/heartburn symptoms.
